How to get to Hungry Mother State Park
Hungry Mother State Park is located approximately 3 miles north of Marion VA town limits on Virginia State Route 16. Marion is easily reached from Interstate 81.
When traveling on I-81 North, you should:
Turn off I-81 at Exit 45.Turn left on to VA State Route 16N to Marion and Hungry Mother State Park.
Go to 2nd traffic light.
Turn right at this intersection and stay on Route 16.
Travel through Marion to the 4th signal light. (McDonald’s is on right and BP station on left.)
Turn left on 16N/Park Blvd. Use caution—curvy road.
Travel 3.6 miles on State Route 16N/Park Boulevard to the Discovery Center/Park Office which will be on your left with Hungry Mother Lake on your right. Welcome!
When traveling I-81 South, you should:
Turn off I-81 at Exit 47.Turn left at bottom of ramp on to State Route 11. Watch for oncoming traffic. Travel into Marion to the 2nd signal light. (McDonald’s on left and BP station on right.) You will see Hungry Mother State Park signs.
Turn right on to State Route16/Park Blvd.
Travel 3.6 miles (use caution—curvy road) to the Discovery Center/Park Office which will be on your left with Hungry Mother Lake on your right. Welcome!
